365 Project | Day 17 That Strange Feeling

Todays photo was inspired by every by every dumb scary movie moment that I’ve seen.  You know the one I mean.  When the character walks into the room, goes down the stairs in the dark, or walks through the empty parking garage.  Now you know which scene I’m talking about?  Yep thought so.  So when you make your way through an empty parking garage late at night do you ever get that strange feeling that makes your heart race and causes you to walk just a little faster?

Is that footsteps you hear behind you?

365 Project | Day 16 Fall Revisited

Todays photo games from a short day trip I made in the fall to a historical landmark in Grantsville, Md.  This was an early boring shot just after day break.  And to me there is just something about that light that made the hour-long drive in the early morning worth it.

Project 365 | Day 15 City Street

Tonight I shot another scene from above a street in Pittsburgh.  And after comparing this one with the one from a couple of days ago.  I like the other one better.  So here is another view of the same two streets in Pittsburgh, Forbes Ave and Smithfield St.  Oh and that might be Big Foot standing on the corner.

Project 365 | Day 14 A City View

So for todays photo I wanted to share a place that I have always enjoyed visiting and photographing.  I guess you could say I’m fascinated with all there is to do and see when you’re in the city.  The area where I grew up and still live in today is more rural.  The landscape is covered with farms and woods are more prevalent than towns and buildings. But as a child I can remember making the trip to the city and just being amazed at what there was to see when we visited.

The city that I’m referring to is Pittsburgh, Pa.  and if you ever have the chance to visit I highly recommend checking this city out.  If you come into the city through the Liberty or Ft. Pitt tunnels when you exit the tunnel you are greeted by a beautiful view of the city.  And that’s just the beginning as far as views.  You can travel to Mt. Washington either by car or using one of the two inclines and the view of the city from Mt. Washington are just amazing, which by the way was the inspiration for tonight’s photo.

Now that I’m all grown up and work in the city every day.  You might think that the fascination has worn off.  Well i can say not in the least.  Every morning I enter the city via the Liberty Tunnels and if I time it just right the city is bathed in the light from the sunrise and I think to myself what a beautiful view.  And every night I leave the city in the dark and think to myself the same thing.  So tonight I took a slight detour to Mt. Washington and took a few shots of this fascinating place.  And here is one of them.

365 Project | Day 13 A Shadow

Since every moment I’ve had free to myself today it ha rained, I’ll post another shot that I took on a group outing with my photography club.  Over the years I have become fond of photographing parts of my subjects rather than the whole subject.  And todays photo is no different.  I have also found that the use of shadows can really make a photo interesting.  What do you think?

365 Project | Day 12 An Oasis

Todays photo was inspired by the need for a cup of coffee.  In my areas we have many choices of small convince stores and such, but the main one is Sheetz.  Sheets has some 400 stores in 6 states and is one of those one stop shops.  Coffee, drinks, sandwiches, pizza, gas, etc… And they seem to be everywhere.  So today I thought I would photograph one at night.

365 Project | Day 11 Smoking in the Street

So today was a complete wash as far as getting out to do any photography.  Worked all day and it was raining this morning when I went to work.  So I’m posting a shot that I took a while back during a photo club outing in Pittsburgh.

One of the reasons I like to shoot in the streets is because everything changes so quickly, you typically don’t have time to set up your shot.  Most of the time you might get one or two frames and the subject has moved on.  That was the case with this photo.  I took one shot and the girl had to go back into the shop she was working at.

365 Project | Day 10 Make Yourself Happy

Todays photo is a shot of an air freshener in a friend’s car.  I took this a couple of nights ago and it got me thinking of what makes me happy.  I’m sure that if we took a poll we would see many different responses to the question what make you happy?  I believe that true happiness lies within everyone and it is our job to find what it is and then follow the advice in the photo below.

What makes you happy?

365 Project | Day 9 Evening in the City

So todays photo is a city shot from a different perspective.  We often shoot at eye level and  sometimes just a change in elevation will give a whole new look to a photograph.  So for this one I went about 3 stories up in a parking garage and shot down the street.
