A trip to the Zoo

Recently my photography club took a trip to the Pittsburgh Zoo.  It’s always nice to get out with a group of people that are interested in the same things and our trips are always filled with fun and friendship.

Below are some of the photos that I took.  Hope you enjoy!

A Trip to the County Fair

Recently the photography group that I belong to took a trip to the Westmoreland County Fair to do some slow motion photography.  We had a great time as a group and each of us walked away with something totally different.

Old Bedford Village – French & Indian War Reenactment

Here are a few of the shots that I took on my trip to Old Bedford Village on Sunday.  They were having a reenactment and living history program on the French & Indian War.  The weather wasn’t the greatest but I managed to have a good time and come away with some photos.

Hope you Enjoy!

Headed to Old Bedford Village

Tomorrow I will head to Old Bedford village to photo graph the French and Indian War reenactment.  Been looking forward to this one since I was there for the old west show.  Hoping the weather holds out and I’ll post some photos of the reenactment.

A Few Shots from Gettysburg

Tonight I have a couple of shots that I did on my latest trip to Gettysburg.  If you are able to visit Gettysburg I highly recommend taking the time see what Gettysburg has to offer.  This is an area rich in history and I learn something new every time I visit.  I would also like to point out that this year is the 150th anniversary of the battle and they have many great events planned for the entire year.

Hope you enjoy!

Kayaking the Yough

Where I’m from there is a local river by the name of Youghiogheny.  As you can guess this has been shortened to Yough (“Yok”).  And if you have spent any time in the mountains of my area you no doubt have visited Ohiopyle, Pa.  The river that runs through the little town of Ohiopyle is none other than the Yough.  The areas that we use the most are either the “Middle Yough” or the “Lower Yough.”  The “middle” section works well for a lazy float down stream for the family.  The “Lower” section has a bit more, shall we say, excitement.

Years ago I worked in Ohiopyle as a photographer taking photos on the middle Yough of those that took the rafting trips.  Not to date myself but this was before digital cameras.  I always enjoyed capturing the action and the expressions on the faces of the people as they made their way through a small rapid.  But the fun place to be is on the lower Yough at what is referred to as the entry rapids on the “Loop”.  The photo graphs below were all taken this past Saturday while I was out enjoying the weather.

Hope you enjoy!

A Couple of Covered Bridges

To my readers I apologize for such a long down time.  No excuses just life gets in the way.

Yesterday I finally got out and enjoyed a day of photography, driving, and just enjoying the country side.  I traveled through Somerset County, Pa and stopped by a couple of covered bridges then headed off to the Flight 93 National Memorial. I’ll post a few shots from the Flight 93 Memorial in another post.

Today I’m posting photos from two bridges.  The first is Kings Bridge which was built-in 1802.  It was rebuilt in 1906 and then again in 2008.  The second bridge is Barronvale Bridge which was built-in 1830.

Hope you enjoy!
