365 Project | Day 7

So today was supposed to be my day off.  Which was a good thing as the high today was only about 6° F.  But as luck would have it my store had a heating malfunction causing us to close early for the day.  Still a god thing right?  Nope not at all, at least not for me.  I was called in to open the doors so that the building engineer could examine the problem.  So much for my day off.  And by the way, they haven’t fixed the heating problem yet.

I had planned to get out to a local waterfall and see if had frozen completely over but that didn’t happen so today you get another cold picture from the city of Pittsburgh.  This photo was taken this evening a little after 5pm and the temp was sharply sitting at 3° with a wind chill of around -30°.  Nice day for a walk in the city.  This lady didn’t seem to be enjoying her walk.

365 Project | Day 6

So the big store in the area today is the cold front moving through which has caused sever drops in temperature.  Tonight’s photo is just a simple one of the temperature at 10:00 pm. It’s hard to believe that last night I was out in a t-shirt and tonight well lets just say its a little chilly…

365 Project | Day 5

Todays photo is something I saw while walking to my car last night after work.  We walk by things ilk this all the time and for the most part don’t even notice that they are there.  But the message on this item got me thinking about what makes a person happy.  There can be any number of things that bring happiness to you.  It could be a simple conversation with a friend, a walk in the park, or a good book.  For some it could be a cup of coffee.

I hope that all of you have JOY in your life!

365 Project | Day 3

So todays photo was inspired by the fact that I almost ran out of time yesterday.  I planned my evening carefully so that I would have plenty of time to get my day 2 post out and the bad weather through all those plans right out the window.  Sometimes no matter how carefully we plan our day we just seem to run out of time.

This is the historic Kaufmann’s Clock in Pittsburgh, Pa.

365 Project | Day 2

Wow, I almost missed the second day..  Bad weather kept me out later than expected.  But I made it.

Todays photo was inspired while waiting in traffic this morning on my way to work.  We spend so much of our time waiting.  So I thought I would show you a photo of a bad time to be waiting…

My Thoughts on New Years Resolutions

The new year has arrived and I have seen many post on various social media sites about New Year Resolutions.  I have to admit that in the past I have played the game and made a few of my own.  And just like most people, I would venture to guess, some have been kept while others have fallen by the way side.

It is my opinion that many resolutions are lost as they really don’t mean anything to the person making them in the first place.  Making a New Year Resolution needs to be something that you drive towards, something that affects your life, something, shall I say, profound.  We shouldn’t make a resolution just because someone said we need to, you should make it because you see the absolute need for it.  Many times, over the years, we have all said, this year I’m going to:  get in shape, lose weight, get a better job, travel, and the list goes on and on.  And for some those are the resolutions that they absolutely need. But for most it’s just words.  Yea sure they go to the gym for a couple of weeks or months then its right back to the old ways.  And those that stick to it, Great for You!  I guess what I’m trying to say is really reflect on what you need to change in your life and then make a conscious effort daily to make the difference.

So you might be wondering what my New Year Resolution is for 2014.  Well to tell you that I first have to tell you about my 2013 resolution.  In December of 2012 I was eating regularly at McDonald’s.  And when I say regularly I mean just about every day.  So I really thought long and hard about something that really need to change and McDonald’s was it for me.  So my 2013 resolution was to not buy anything from McDonald’s.  And on New Years eve I went for my last Big Mac and, well lets just say, some other items. 🙂  And for the entire year of 2013 I steered clear of McDonalds. And last night at the stroke of midnight, I made it.  Now this may not seem like much, but for me this was something in my life that really needed to change.

So what’s in store for 2014?  Well tonight on the first day of the year, I went to McDonalds to get some dinner, stood at the counter for 10 min while every employee, including the manager, ignored the fact that I was there and then said to myself, I guess I really didn’t miss this and the I walked out…  So once again in 2014 I’m going to boycott McDonalds. And as for my one big thing for this year..  Now where did I put that gym membership card?

Stay tuned I’ll let you know what the real one is as soon as I figure it out.

Day Trip in Somerset County, Pa

Just a couple of shots from a quick trip through Somerset County on Saturday.  The leaves are turing and the scenery was beautiful.  Was really nice to get a day off from work to relax and enjoy what God has given us.

Hope you enjoy the photos.
