Ok I don’t rant about things very often but tonight I just have to COMPLAIN about an issue. But, before I do that I want to ask how many of you remember a movie called “Falling Down” staring Michael Douglas?
A middle-aged man dealing with both unemployment and divorce, William Foster (Michael Douglas) is having a bad day. When his car breaks down on a Los Angeles highway, he leaves his vehicle and begins a trek across the city to attend his daughter’s birthday party. As he makes his way through the urban landscape, William’s frustration and bitterness become more evident, resulting in violent encounters with various people, including a vengeful gang and a dutiful veteran cop (Robert Duvall).
So if you remember the movie, you might remember the scene when he goes into a restaurant and orders a sandwich and it doesn’t look anything like the picture on the menu. Well that’s exactly what my RANT is about tonight. I stopped by a fast food place tonight and grabbed a quick sandwich. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich that looked really good on the menu and what I got when I opened it at home was NOT what the photo looked like. So my question is, at what point did we as a society decide that it was ok for these places to serve this?
Good rant. I remember the movie. We let it all go b/c our lifestyles are so busy, and we want convenience, so….. I wish society would wake up &realize the power they hold. We can use our art to make statements…
Thanks Pat and your right we have the tools to make a statement about whats right and wrong and we can try to make a difference.
